Colin Allred Does Not Support Law Enforcement

HOUSTON — Colin Allred is once again painting himself to be someone he is not, this time in regards to his support for law enforcement. It doesn’t take a lot of digging to see he has a clear anti-law enforcement record.

COLIN ALLRED’S ANTI-LAW ENFORCEMENT RECORD:
  • In May 2023, Allred voted against H.R. 2494, the POLICE Act of 2023, which classified “assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder a deportable offense.”
  • In March 2021, Allred was an original co-sponsor and voted for H.R. 1280, which was considered a de facto “Defund the Police” bill, which would “defund the police” via massive “unfunded mandates,” citing “hundreds of millions” in new costs imposed on police departments through regulations. Additional impacts on law enforcement included eliminating qualified immunity, blanket bans on “no-knock” warrants, banning departments from receiving military equipment, and creating a federal database of law enforcement officers who may be wrongfully accused.
  • In 2021, Allred voted against condemning the “Defund the Police” movement.
  • In 2020, Allred voted for H.R. 7120, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which was co-signed by Pelosi and could restrict federal funding for local police departments that do not comply and would end qualified immunity.
  • Allred has received around $60,000 from groups and individuals that have supported the radical “Defund the Police” movement.
A Cruz Campaign spokesperson issued the following statement.

“Colin Allred is a lot of things; a friend to the law enforcement community is not one of them. As his record shows, he’s voted repeatedly against their best interest, which is why Sen. Cruz is the overwhelming choice of the law endorsement community in Texas.”
