Democrat Eddie Lucio Endorses Sen. Cruz

HOUSTON — As we’re in the final stretch of the race to November, and early voting is underway, Democrat former Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio is throwing his support behind Sen. Ted Cruz in his re-election bid for U.S. Senate. 

Eddie Lucio issued the following statement regarding his endorsement of Sen. Cruz. 

“As a Democrat, I served the people in the Rio Grande Valley for three decades in the Texas Senate. I know the people and the needs of this community intimately, and it’s why I’m proud to endorse Ted Cruz in his re-election bid for the U.S. Senate. 

“Ted has taken action to support and defend our Border Patrol agents and all law enforcement agents, has delivered legislation that will boost our economy and bring jobs to the valley, and is staunchly pro-life. He’s a proven fighter who deserves to be re-elected.”

Sen. Ted Cruz released the following statement in response to Lucio’s support.

“It’s an honor to have the support of former State Senator Eddie Lucio. I have worked tirelessly with those on the other side of the aisle throughout my time in the Senate to deliver for the people of South Texas. 

“Eddie’s endorsement shows that Texans from all political backgrounds want someone who will work for common sense solutions, recognizing that Colin Allred is too radical to serve them in the way they deserve.
