TEXAS — Today, Sen. Cruz announced notable additions to his Democrats for Cruz Coalition, picking up major endorsements, including Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, who joined him at a law enforcement and public safety rally and Sean Hannity interview last night in Houston.
Senator Cruz has recently worked hand-in-hand with DA Ogg in the aftermath of the appalling and avoidable murder of Jocelyn Nungaray at the hands of two illegal immigrants in Houston.
It has been 43 days since Can’t Comment Colin held a press conference. Meanwhile, Senator Cruz continues to talk to the media and everyday Texans regularly, like he did last night, to a packed room of over 350 attendees.
While the energy in the Cruz Campaign grows exponentially with each passing day, Allred continues to hide in the shadows. When he does come into the light, he is met with sparse crowds and dodges important questions.
From leading the fight to secure the border to successfully expanding Texas’ interstate highways, to securing bridge permits in South Texas, and advocating for NASA and space exploration, these endorsements are a testament to Senator Cruz’s successful record working with Republicans and Democrats alike.
Texans on both sides of the aisle know that he is the best choice to Keep Texas, Texas.
The full list of elected officials who are today joining the Democrats for Cruz Coalition is as follows:
Kim Ogg, Harris County District Attorney
Art Granado, Reeves County Sheriff
Leo Hung, Reeves County Judge
Bruce Jackson, Culberson County Constable
Ronny Dodson, Brewster County Sheriff
Charles Burns, Kenedy County Judge
Raymundo Bosque, Zapata County Sheriff
Denise Sanchez, City of Poteet Mayor
About the endorsements, Sen. Cruz said,
“I am proud to announce the newest members of the Democrats for Cruz coalition. These leaders deeply understand Texans’ needs and values, and they know that Colin Allred’s radical progressive policies, whether on the border, public safety, or economy, will push Texas back, not forward. Since my election to the Senate, my priority has been to deliver results for Texans and to fight against bad policies that encroach on our Texan way of life, which is why I will continue working hand in hand with Republicans and Democrats across the state to ensure that we Keep Texas, Texas, in November.”
About her endorsement, DA Kim Ogg said, “My constituents hate crime and expect the government to keep them safe from criminals. They deserve protection, but our country’s laws and policies don’t always work to that end. No case has spotlighted our crime problem and shaken our city more poignantly than the brutal murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was tragically murdered by two undocumented Venezuelan nationals who were captured crossing the border illegally but were released from federal custody. Had Senator Cruz’s Justice for Jocelyn Act been the law today, Jocelyn would be alive.
“I am endorsing Senator Ted Cruz because he has taken action at a time when Americans want solutions, not excuses, about why Democrats and Republicans won’t work together. I appreciate the Senator for reaching out to me, the top law enforcement official in Harris County and Democratic office holder, to work together to protect our nation’s children from predators who shouldn’t be roaming our streets. Crime is bigger than partisanship.”
Leo Hung, Reeves County Judge, said, “The crisis at our southern border threatens our communities and well-being every single day. We used to live in a state where we could walk outside without fear of getting hurt. Now, because of the policies of the National Democratic Party, we fear for our safety every time we step outside. I’ve been a Democrat all my life and will continue to be, but no one has fought harder to secure the border than Senator Ted Cruz, which is why I am endorsing him for re-election and look forward to his victory in November.”
