HOUSTON — Today is one of the most solemn days in our nation’s history. It’s a day for remembering and honoring the thousands of Americans who lost their lives 23 years ago in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
It is not a day for political fundraising. Colin Allred thought otherwise.
An article in Townhall was published today, stating the following.
“As Democratic candidates scramble to run for U.S. Senate races in red states, several of them are also going for desperate tactic of fundraising on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. On Wednesday, the actual date of the anniversary, Democrats Lucas Kunce in Missouri, Rep. Colin Allred in Texas, and former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Florida all sent out fundraising emails mentioning the anniversary while also soliciting donations.”
A Cruz Campaign spokesperson issued the following statement.
“This is a new low, even for Colin Allred. To solicit donations off of one of the most tragic days in our nation’s history is despicable. We’re calling on Allred to find the minuscule amount of integrity he might have left, issue an immediate apology, and donate any money raised from that reprehensible email to funds that support victims of 9/11.”
