ICYMI: Colin Allred Is Part of the Problem

HOUSTON — In an interview at the Texas Tribune Festival last weekend, Colin Allred continued to try to walk the fine line on border security, but, yet again, he’s falling flat on his face because his record tells another story.

The article quotes Allred as saying the following.

“‘When you have a huge surge of migrants — we had a record number in December ‘23 — you have to identify the crisis and respond to it with smart policy resources and have that sense of urgency, and I didn’t see that for some time in my party,’ Allred said.”

However, Colin Allred’s voting record leading up to December 2023 and afterward is in direct contrast to his statement.

COLIN ALLRED’S EXTREME VOTING RECORD ON THE BORDER LEADING UP TO DECEMBER 2023

  • Voted AGAINST HR 5525 – Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act, 2024 (09/29/2023)
  • Voted AGAINST HR 2494 – POLICE Act of 2023 (05/17/2023)

  • Voted AGAINST H Res 1210 – Condemning the Biden border crisis and the tremendous burdens law enforcement officers face as a result (05/15/2024)
  • Voted AGAINST H Res 1112 – Denouncing the Biden administration’s immigration policies (05/01/2024)

  • Voted AGAINST H Res 1065 – Denouncing the Biden administration’s immigration policies (03/12/2024)
A Cruz Campaign spokesperson issued the following statement.

“It’s honestly sad how easy it is to call Allred and his campaign on their lies. It reeks of desperation. With less than 60 days until Election Day, their campaign is willing to say or do anything to appeal to Texas voters. Everyone can see through the charade and knows that Allred is nothing more than a snake oil salesman whose voting record shows he’s as radical as they come on all of the top issues, especially border security.”
